Rehabilitation doesn’t work by definition. The word means to “return a man to his former self”. Being their former self has sent many a man to prison. Habilitate means, “to train or qualify”. How can you re- train or re-qualify a person who has never been trained or qualified in the first place?

The best product of rehabilitation is a burglar who knows how to weld and spell. Habilitation will produce an ex-burglar who knows how to weld and spell.

END GOALS OF HABILITATION HOUSE PROGRAM

After 12 to 24 months, the offender will be released back in his home jurisdiction with adjustments, which include but are not limited to:

1. having his physical and mental health issues addressed
2. having his dental corrections completed
3. having his vision shortcomings corrected
4. having an attitude of responsibility and accountability
5. having a moral and spiritual compass identified and applied
6. having his education needs met via ABE, GED, diploma, college credits
7. having vocational training via OJT with academic back-up
8. having a marketable job skill
9. having the daily opportunity to practice positive choice-making
10. having his addictions counseled and treated
11. having made restitution to his victims from his earnings
12. having financially supported and be reunited with his family
13. having upon release, a jump-starting savings account from his earnings
14. having upon release, a dedicated mentor in his home jurisdiction
15. having assurance that re-entry support services will always be available
16. having the assurance that hundreds of spiritual warriors will be praying for his successful transformation from criminal to citizen
