The Ministry
In addition to advocating for Habilitation House, The Academy, and Encore, CCI is committed to an ongoing, hands-on ministry to offenders, ex-offenders, and families who have loved ones in prison, (Outmates).
CCI has been an active, participating member of the Coalition of Churches in Prison Ministry, (Coalition) for more than fourteen years. As a Coalition member, CCI and its volunteers go into prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities to preach, teach, and counsel. We conduct worship services and teach New Convert Classes in TDCJ’s Boyd Unit, Beto Unit, Michaels Unit, Dawson State Jail, and TYC”s Corsicana Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, (CRTC). We also visit the Hospice Wing of the Michael’s Unit on a regular basis.
Bill Robinson is credentialed and counsels prisoners in the Collin, Grayson, Denton, Tarrant, and Dallas County jails. CCI volunteers also minister to many Outmates and are planning to in partnership with the PLEAS Prison Ministry to sponsor and host a once- a -month Outmate Family Dinner.
Also, as members of the Coalition, participate in the Christmas Project. Every Christmas, members of the Coalition stock and stuff 10,800 little bags containing toothpaste, soap, deodorant, hard candy, apple, orange and a Gospel message for hand-delivery to prisoners in four prisons. These bags decorated by children carry a message that says that God loves them. Many of those prisoners when released show up at the Coalition with four or five of those empty bags they have saved.
In the year 2011, CCI offered services at the Boyd Unit on April 16 and at the Bridgeport Correctional Center on July 16. Our April 16 visit to the Michael Unit with its Hospice Wing was cancelled due to a lockdown.
In partnership with the PLEAS Ministry of the FBC of The Colony, CCI ministered at the CRTC on April 22 with an Easter Service.
Our long time (10 years) musical partners, the Metro Praise Orchestra, (MPO) was in concert with us at the Bridgeport Unit.
This ministry and the advocating of a truly Faith-Based/Work-Ethic Corrections Initiative is 24/7 and is funded and staffed by God’ amazing Grace.
