Education: Minimum of a Master's degree with Oklahoma Education Agency Superintendent's Certification.

Description: Using wide latitude for planning educational programs in accordance with policies set forth by the proposed facility to:

• Devise and recommend policies and procedures for implementing a unique educational program in a correctional setting for adult residents' academic and vocational education.

• Recruit, interview, contract and assign personnel to positions according to professional preparation and program needs.

• Direct the maintenance of auditable personnel records for proposed unit as required by the OEA, if applicable.

• Direct the expenditure of state and federal funds through an annual budget and research for new funds.

• Maintain standards relative to OEA school accreditation and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation where applicable.

• Consult with college and university professors and staff to encourage their involvement; (i) In the development of a comprehensive education program to meet the divergent needs of the residents; (ii) To enhance the professional growth of the teachers through special courses; (iii) To encourage research.

• Consult with Associate and Assistant Commissioners and Division Directors of Oklahoma Education Agency to solve problems peculiar in such areas as teacher certification, curriculum and instruction, average daily attendance, patrolling, textbooks, accreditation, school audits, special education and vocational education, if applicable.

• Appraise student progress through testing programs.

• Participate in educational and correctional professional organization conferences on state and national levels, if applicable.

• Encourage the professional growth and may direct the in-service training of faculty and staff.

Starting Salary:  37,500 / yr
