Home Before You Go

Before You Go

Nehemiah after much prayer approached the King with a request for leave to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. The King not only granted his request but also gave him authority, protection, and building materials.

Many politicians go to their graves with unspent political capital while waiting on a better deal. That better deal that defines one’s legacy may come only once in a lifetime. Habilitation House and the Academy via an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) could very well be that better deal. By returning criminals to society as responsible, accountable, and productive citizens, “ It will change the direction of corrections forever.” Rep. Mike Shelton opined.

To do the right thing for the right reason requires capacity, concern, character, and courage. Throughout history, leaders who have met those conditions have left legacies of undeniable impact. Many citizens have become convinced that spiritually, socially, economically, statutorily, constitutionally, and yes, even politically this proposed Faith-Based/Work-Ethic Corrections Initiative with its community-oriented, non-profit motives is the right thing for the right reason. (Ephesians 4:28, Psalms 127:1)

These same citizens know that the Bible is still the best textbook on criminal justice and Judeo/Christian principles are the most effective guardian of our domestic welfare.

We hope and pray that amongst all of the “resounding gongs and clanging cymbals” the vital decision-makers will hear that “still small voice” and step up and step out with whatever influence God has blessed them.

“Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.

Psalms 106:3 (NIV)

“Little faith will bring your souls to heaven, but great faith will bring heaven to your souls.”

Charles Spurgeon
