About Us
CCI was founded by a group of Christian ministers and laymen, with demonstrated expertise in correctional services, dedicated to improve the lives of persons incarcerated for crimes against society. Calling on the experiences and talents within the organization, CCI, through its Boards composed of former wardens, administrators, educators, vocational training specialists, personnel managers and ministers, initiated a twenty-year program development which includes a comprehensive treatment approach.
All of these elements are giant steps in the direction of returning the offender to society as a worthwhile, contributing citizen. The components necessary to achieve short and long term successes are ready for implementation: non-government, private financing, community acceptance/involvement (committed volunteers), vocational training/job placement, alcohol/drug abuse counseling, education/literacy/college programs, offender restitution, family supporting/reuniting, and more importantly, the teaching and instilling of moral and social values, not by imposition and indoctrination but by availability, example, and a unique provision of services plan, greatly diminishing recidivism.
Habilitation House, when implemented, will provide cost-effective recidivism and crime rate reduction, and the application of Judeo/Christian principles to confront the heart of each inmate’s problems and not just their symptoms.
While in vigorous pursuit of the implementations of Habilitation House, CCI is active in hands-on ministry as a member of the Coalition of Churches in Prison Ministry.
Bill Robinson, accompanied by committed volunteers and often the Metro Praise Orchestra (MPO) preaches, teaches, and counsels in prisons and jails on a regular basis. Many offenders have come to accept Jesus Christ and have been discipled and mentored through these efforts.
CCI is also dedicated to ministering to the families who have loved ones in prison (outmates).
They are in prison too. Their cell is just bigger.
Our Founder
Bill Robinson was born in Dallas, Texas, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana graduating from C. E. Byrd High School and was further educated at Baylor University, Decatur Baptist College and Northwestern State of Louisiana via football, track, and boxing scholarships.
With the stage name of Dan Perkins, Bill worked for several years as an actor, writer, comedian, director, and producer. In the business world, he bought, revamped, and sold radio stations, built and operated dinner theaters and was partner in an outdoor advertising company with offices in nine states.
Bill began going to prison in 1962 for white-collar crimes to finance his high-rolling promoting lifestyle that included an all-consuming addiction to alcohol and drugs. He served seven and one-half years in prison 1962-1971. He was born again in March, 1980 and made Jesus Christ the Lord of his life in March, 1983. The Lord called him into the prison ministry in 1984.
He helped Paul Carlin coordinate the Texas Simultaneous Prison Revival December 7-9, 1984. and was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel by the First Baptist Church of Euless, Texas in 1986. He is the founder and Chairman of Corrections Concepts, Inc.
Recognizing the many problems our justice system faces, Corrections Concepts, Inc. (CCI) chartered January, 1985 in Texas is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization to help families deal with the tragedy of having a family member imprisoned and more importantly, to directly impact offenders to return to society as contributing, self-sufficient citizens.
CCI has been on a twenty-five year long journey of faith to fulfill a vision God laid on Bill’s heart to build and operate a 600-man faith-based/work-ethic corrections facility, because he believes that given the opportunity to learn a marketable job skill, to learn to read and write, to learn how to be free of drugs, to be exposed to Christian role models, the offender will choose not to be a criminal and will very possibly be changed within, thus enabling him to become a law-abiding citizen. He believes this because Jesus radically changed his life. With Governor, now President Bush’s faith-based initiatives, this vision is finally nearing reality.
Bill is the author of many articles, op-ed pieces, and newsletters. He has traveled extensively, speaking to social, civil, and church groups, testifying before Legislative Committees, Commissions, Task Forces, and other political gatherings, and preaching the Gospel in prisons and jails.
Because Bill Robinson’s life was changed by the grace of God and the sacrifice of His Son, he believes anyone can be changed, families can be reunited, victims can be compensated, and criminals can become citizens, thus his mission is to reach out to those in prison with God’s love and amazing grace. His message is consistent: “The Bible is still the best text-book on criminal justice and Judeo-Christian principles are the most effective guardian of our domestic welfare.”
